At into.care, we built mobile AI for elderly care — working daily with patient records, care logs, and deeply personal health data. We had the security perimeters. We had GDPR policies. But what we really learned went further than compliance checkboxes.
We learned that handling patient data isn't just a legal obligation — it's a responsibility. That anonymisation and pseudonymisation aren't technicalities, they're acts of respect toward the people whose data you're working with. The walls around the data matter, but so does how you treat what's inside it.
When into.care was acquired, we carried that conviction with us. AuditStream is built on it.
Serial entrepreneur with deep hands-on experience building AI on sensitive operational and healthcare data. Co-founded into.care (acquired by Corilus) and Ledsreact. The data stewardship lessons from into.care became the philosophical core of AuditStream.
Product strategist and researcher with a background in ICT-supported care and Smart Care Platforms for elderly care. Co-founded into.care alongside Jeroen, where he developed a rigorous understanding of how data-driven health products must embed patient dignity and GDPR compliance from day one — not as an afterthought.
The Journey
Jeroen and Thomas co-founded into.care, building a mobile data-driven platform for residential and long-term care. Working with patient records, care logs, and deeply personal health data daily gave both founders a ground-level education in what responsible data handling actually means — not from a legal textbook, but from being accountable to real patients. The company was later acquired by Corilus.
AI initiatives exploded across every industry. At Ledsreact, the contrast became stark: the same urgency and respect for data that into.care had drilled into both founders was absent almost everywhere else. Teams were racing to train models on whatever data they had. Nobody was asking whether that data was biased, legally sound, or worthy of the people it represented.
The EU AI Act became enforceable. Suddenly, "high-risk" AI systems needed documented proof of non-discrimination, data provenance, and technical audit trails. The legal frameworks existed. The automated tooling to satisfy them did not.
